Thrive is pleased to announce the appointment of Christianne Monico as their new CEO. Christianne will assume responsibilities on Jan. 1, 2018 and will succeed Susan Vanagas-Cote, who has retired after 29 years of service.

“Christianne brings a strong mix of leadership, inspiration and operational experience to Thrive. She has a powerful sense of respect for and commitment to the children, youth and families that Thrive supports. We are excited for the next chapter of Thrive under Christianne’s direction,” said Anna Rendell, president of Thrive’s Board of Directors.

Christianne will be responsible for working with Thrive’s board, leadership team and staff to deliver on Thrive’s new Strategic Plan, with a view to building upon and strengthening Thrive’s role in supporting children, youth with special needs and their families.

“I am very excited to be joining the team at Thrive in supporting children and youth with diverse abilities in the Algoma District. Thrive has been on the leading edge of coordinated service planning and service delivery practices and I am pleased to have the opportunity to guide and support this model of excellence going forward! As one of many strong community partner agencies providing support to children, I also look forward to working with other key partners in jointly helping our children reach beyond their potential, towards the extraordinary,” remarked Christianne.

With over 25 years in the health care field, Christianne brings a variety of clinical/educational experiences and expertise in both the acute and community settings within Ontario and Michigan. As an RN, she led teams from the front-line to middle management and most recently, was a member of the senior management team with the Northeast Local Health Integration Network (Home and Community Care) for nearly 10 years.

Christianne and her husband and children are proud to call Sault Ste. Marie home.
