S&T Group raises $16,000 in support of Algoma Family Services

On Friday, June 15, S. & T. Group held their 17th Annual Classic Golf Tournament in support of Algoma Family Services Foundation. The tournament raised $16,000 in support of children and youth mental health programs in Sault Ste. Marie.

“We were very excited when S. & T. Group approached us as a possible recipient of this year’s tournament funds”, said Paige Linklater, AFS Foundation Manager. “It’s our goal each year to try to increase community awareness of the importance of children and youth mental health and the services offered by Algoma Family Services”.

“This year marked the 17th year that we have hosted our S. & T. Classic Golf Tournament. We are grateful that we can continue to support local charities with their mission and initiatives in providing impactful programs and services to those in need within our community,” said Dennis Tatasciore, S. & T. Group Vice-President of Operations/Estimating .” We hope that our support and contribution will assist the Algoma Family Services Foundation in their efforts to help children and youth who struggle with mental health challenges in our community. We believe that youth are the key to a prosperous future and ensuring they have access to necessary support programs is essential. We commend your team on all your efforts.”  

The generous donation from S. & T. Group will assist Algoma Family Services in the provision of psychological assessments. Approximately 100 psychological assessments are completed each year. These assessments inform therapeutic treatment planning as well as overall service direction.

This year, their team had chosen to make an incredible investment in the Mental Health and wellbeing of local youth,” said Sonny Spina, Chair of the Algoma Family Services Foundation. “We are proud to have partnered with them.”

The AFS Foundation promotes the services of Algoma Family Services to generate heightened community awareness of the specific needs of children with mental health challenges and the programs and services available to assist them. The AFS foundation assists by providing meaningful opportunities for the community to help resource mental health programs for children and youth in Algoma which would otherwise not be available through provincial funding.
