The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is pleased to announce that all three members of their coaching staff will be assisting the Sault Major Hockey Association and providing a support system for their coaches in the upcoming 2021-22 season.

Head Coach John Dean, Associate Coach Jordan Smith and Assistant Coach Jamie Tardif are among an extensive list of hockey professionals volunteering their time with the SMHA ‘Coach Mentorship' Program.

Originally started in 2018, the Coach Mentorship Program was initiated by Hounds alumni Craig Hartsburg and Toots Kovacs, to provide assistance to the elite coaches from Atom to Midget AA and AAA programs.

It allows each of Association’s coaches to access the panel of volunteers as a resource throughout the season.

“I would like to thank John, Jordan and Jamie for stepping up and giving back to hockey in Sault Ste. Marie" said program liason Craig Hartsburg.

“We are extremely grateful and really appreciate them giving their time to give back and supporting minor hockey in our community’ he added.

Dean, Smith and Tardif will be among an extensive list of volunteers lending a helping hand including Hartsburg, Kovacs, Trevor Daley, Mike Hall, Mark Matier, Denny Lambert, Terry Barbeau and more.

In addition, the Coach Mentorship Program has scheduled a free one-day seminar for this August in which topics such as developing young defenceman, skill development and more will be held in town.

Further details will be released at a later time.
