SEARCHMONT STATION
PRESERVATION & HISTORICAL SOCIETY

*************************
The Searchmont Station Preservation & Historical Society (SSP&HS) can safely say they are getting closer to the realization of there goal to restore the old Algoma Central Railway station located in Searchmont.

The society was advised that the station needed to be moved once sold.

The society is one step closer to one of its main goals, securing a new home for the historic building.

The SSP&HS is in discussions with Algoma Central Corporation regarding a potential donation of a portion of the land owned by the Algoma Central that is next to the property on which the station now sits.

Algoma Central Corporation has indicated support for the project and that it will consider donating a piece of land that the station can be relocated to.

Although the society must meet a number of conditions established by Algoma Central to secure the donation, we are confident that we can meet these conditions, enabling the project to clear this significant hurdle.

We very much appreciate the interest and support that Algoma Central has shown and we are working diligently to meet the conditions and secure the donation.

It is hoped that by early 2015 the Society will have completed all the requirement set forth by the Algoma Central.
