Provincial awards won by local cadets

Two local Sea Cadets each brought home a top in Ontario individual award this past weekend at the Provincial Band and Drill Competition held at CFB Borden.

The combined 155 Air and 2310 Army Pipe earned second place at the same competition.

Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Andrew Glew of 46 Sea Royal Sovereign received Top Drill Team Captain where he demonstrated his abilities to effectively give memorized drill commands in proper sequence to the team.

Chief Petty Officer Roger Moss also of 46 Sea earned the Top Drum Major Award at the Provincial Competition where he displayed his abilities to lead a marching band in parade formations and to show his skills of handling the mace while keeping it in motion during the bands free style portion of the performance.

Royal Sovereign Sea Cadets competed in Drill With Out Arms as well their Brass and Drum Band where both at the Provincial Competition where the cadets gained valuable performance experience while demonstrating their drill and musical skills.

The combined 155 Air and 2310 Army Pipe and Drum Band accompanied by their Highland Dancers performed there compulsory portion where they showed their skills at marching and plying as a marching band.

For the free style portion of the demonstration the pipers and drummers moved in a choreographed sequence while the dancers also performed very eye appealing and highly physically charged movements. 

296 City of Cambridge Air Cadet Sqn. Pipe and Drum Band placed Top Pipe Band at the competition.

There is no cost to join the Canadian Cadet Program where the regular uniform is supplied and weekly training.

Travel, meals and accommodations are provided to the cadets for the Provincial Competiton.
