MPs Lefebvre and Serré co-chair Ontario Rail Working Group, invite stakeholder participation

Northern Ontario MPs pleased to form Working Group to address rail-related challenges and opportunities in Ontario

OTTAWA – Paul Lefebvre, member of parliament for Sudbury, and Marc Serré, member of parliament for Nickel Belt, are pleased to announce that they have formed an Ontario Rail Working Group that will meet and discuss rail-related challenges and opportunities in Ontario, and are jointly participating in the working group as co-chairs.

The Ontario Rail Working Group invites fellow Members of Parliament, officials, and stakeholders to participate in an ongoing conversation about the future of Ontario’s rail infrastructure, and to share their vision for how the federal government can work with both community and industry stakeholders to ensure the long-term sustainability of Ontario’s rail network.

Upcoming guests the Ontario Rail Working Group will welcome to the discussion include Tony Marquis, senior vice-president, operations, Eastern Region of CP and a representative from VIA Rail on Nov. 24; The Honourable David Collenette, former minister of transport and a representative from CN on Dec. 1; Michael Bourque of the Canadian Railway Association on Dec. 8; and Ontario Northland and more to be announced at a later date.
