Nominations open for chamber of commerce board membership

The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations to fill current vacancies on its board of directors. 

Nominations will be received until Monday, June 5, at noon.

Nominations are for the position of director(s) for a two-year term, contingent on a vote by the membership at the 2023 Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting, the chamber said in a news release.

To be eligible for nomination, a nominee is required to be a delegated representative of a registered member business / firm of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce in good standing and must meet qualifications outlined in the chamber’s bylaws.

A director must be at least 18, cannot currently be in bankruptcy, and must be an employee, director or officer of a chamber member in good standing or be an individual member in good standing.

Anyone interested in standing for election must complete a nomination form no later than Monday, June 5 at noon, then later complete a nomination orientation, submit a CV and any other related documentation upon request.

No one who is a directly paid employee of a municipal, provincial or federal government can be elected or appointed as a director unless approval to stand for election or appointment is approved by a special resolution of the board.
