ALGOMA POWER INC.

On Tuesday, March 19, 2019 an open house and official ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Algoma Power Inc. (API)‘s new work centre location in Desbarats.

Those in attendance included API employees, members of our executive team, community dignitaries from the surrounding local areas and many of the local contractors directly involved in the construction project.

API replaced an end of life facility in Desbarats to maintain operational service and response time (driving time) to customers east of Sault Ste. Marie. The building is energy efficient and has space for API’s crew and fleet.

The company focussed on sourcing providers from local contractors and businesses within API’s service territory wherever possible, including materials, service and equipment.

Algoma Power entrusted Thomas Young Builders to construct the new facility; leveraging their long standing reputation for quality workmanship and superior service to customers. The project was completed and delivered ahead of schedule and API is very satisfied with the final product.

The new service centre will enable API to continue to maintain a local presence in servicing the communities in Desbarats, Bruce Mines, St. Joseph Island and surrounding areas in providing safe and reliable electricity to its customers and reflects API’s ongoing commitment to the local communities it serves.
