Sault Ste Marie is home to many things; Bushplane Museum, Agawa Canyon . . . and now THE Smartest Bar in Canada!

Buzztime Trivia plays in thousands of bars and restaurants across North America. From Aug. 1 to Sept. 12, Buzztime ran their Smartest Bar competition where all outlets compete to show off who has the smartest players.

Using tablets or boards, players answer trivia questions in six different categories: Science, Sports, Arts, Entertainment, World and History. The same questions are broadcast to all locations with a time limit to answer.

Playing at the Esquire Club every Wednesday, a group of 14 + friends from both sides of the border get together for fun and trivia.

Going by the name No Borders Brainiacs, our members compete in not only Buzztime Trivia but Kiwanis Trivia and other tournaments around the city. But this year bragging rights for Smartest Bar hit a new high. Not only were we the highest ranking Canadian bar, we came in THIRD overall.

Over the years, our group has won several trophies on display at the Esquire and also for the former Breakaway Bar. But this year's win is heartfelt. We lost one of our longtime players Jon MacLeod suddenly on March 23. Jon's brother Ken was the MVP for the championship game.

For coming in third, Buzztime will be awarding us with a trophy, medals, American Express gift cards and $250 U.S. towards a Buzztime sponsored party.

All are welcome to come and join us Wednesday nights at the Esquire and Thursdays once Catch The Ace is over. Buzztime trivia is free to play. It's not unusual for other Buzztime players from across Canada and the U.S. to make the trip to the Sault just to play with us!
