SAULT STE. MARIE PUBLIC LIBRARY

On Wednesday May 11, 2022, at 12 p.m., drop by the Sault Ste. Marie James L. McIntyre Centennial Library, 50 East Street to meet acclaimed poet Simon Constam! Copies of his poetry collection are available for purchase and signing, with a portion of sales supporting the public library.

Constam’s debut poetry collection, Brought Down, has earned praise from prominent Canadian poets, including former poet laureate George Elliott Clarke, who writes: “In Brought Down, Constam appears as...a Seinfeld-mode Job, questioning God about his ‘masquerading as the dark.’ ... Brought Down delivers the goods!”

Based out of Toronto, Constam has published in a variety of magazines, including the Dark Poetry Club, the Jewish Literary Journal, and Poetica. In Brought Down, Constam “struggles with daily life as a firm believer and continuing pride in Jewish identity” in a collection of poems that are “characterized by the admission of doubt in God's desire for a better world, and willing to see Jewish tradition as indispensable.”

Be sure to check out the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library’s social media platforms for upcoming content featuring Simon Comstam.

This is a free event, and no registration is required.  For more information, please call Sarah at 705-759-5235.
