NEWS RELEASE
SAULT TECHNOLOGY ENGAGEMENT AND MENTORING
**************************
Sault Technology Engagement and Mentoring (STEaM), a local volunteer organization, is hosting a Science and Technology Showcase and Career Fair on Thursday, April 25 from 4 to 7 p.m at the Delta Waterfront Hotel Sault Ste Marie (208 St. Mary's River Dr.). If you are looking for work or are interested in a potential new employer in the science and tech sector, then do not miss this unique opportunity to meet with reputable local employers looking to fill current and future positions.

This is the first of what STEaM hopes will become an annual event designed to connect qualified candidates with local employers and job opportunities, and to promote that local employers are looking for talent now and in the future. Companies planning to attend include Tenaris, OLG, Workiva, Pinchin, PQA/Plato, TerreSky, and SSMIC.

“This event is about rallying the local science and tech community and shining a spotlight on the vibrancy and growth of this sector in Sault Ste. Marie,” says Susan George, executive director of STEaM. “It will provide a landscape for job seekers to meet and discover some of the best companies in town looking for talent.”

Important information and statistics on the state of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) jobs across our region and Canada-wide will be shared by Peter Bruijns, executive director of the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC).

The companies exhibiting at the Science and Technology Showcase and Career Fair are there for more than hunting talent; they want to share with attendees the exciting, leading edge work in the science and technology sectors taking place in Sault Ste Marie.

“This event is significant to PQA and PLATO Testing on multiple levels,” said Jennifer Rushton, VP – Lottery and Gaming for PQA. “It provides us an opportunity to fill current job postings, raises the profile of the Sault’s growing STEM ecosystem and, in doing so, will develop a longer-term pipeline of talent, originating from our College, University, post-secondary and elementary schools.”

Registration is not required. Please come prepared with anything that will help employers learn more about you and your experience, including an up to date resume, business cards (if applicable), enthusiasm and confidence!
