DESBARATS - The Kensington Conservancy is excited to once again be hosting a non-motorized poker run in the Portlock Harbour in Desbarats this Saturday, July 20. Bring your canoe, kayak, paddleboard, or other human-powered boat to compete for a variety of prizes!

There are three route options that you can participate in: 2km, 5km, and 10km. For each route, you will make five stops to pick up a playing card. The boat with the best poker hand at the end of the event is the winner. There will also be prizes for the fastest boat in each route and a door prize for all participants.

The cost is $10 per boat, or you can collect pledges from your family and friends. All proceeds go towards The Kensington Conservancy’s local conservation efforts.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. at The Kensington Conservancy’s Archibald Homestead, located on Archibald Road off Highway 17, just east of Desbarats, with races starting shortly afterwards.

Prizes are being donated by Gardiner Marine, North Channel Current, McClelland’s Hardware and Feed, and Loonie Toons Pontoons and Power Sports.

Pre-registration and more information can be found at the website.
