Hilltribe Ontario Inc. announced today that, for Giving Tuesday on Nov. 30 this year, they will be giving back to the Soup Kitchen Community Centre. Giving Tuesday is a national day to celebrate giving and giving back. A day where charities, companies, families and individuals come together to rally for causes, give back and help others.

"We are so lucky as a local small business to be able to help our community. So far, we have been  able to weather the pandemic and are still here, where we started 22 years ago, and that is all  thanks to the support we have received over the years from our customers. Every day we hear about food insecurity, homelessness and hunger and we know these issues are right here at home as well. Our Soup Kitchen Community Centre provides such a very worthwhile and badly needed service to  people in our community, and now with the rising costs of food & everyday essentials, they need our help more than ever.

We have chosen to extend our Black Friday Cyber Monday promo this year to also include Giving Tuesday and will donate 10% of all sales during that time to the Soup Kitchen. We hope others will  find their own way to help as well.

We love Sault Ste. Marie and are so proud to be a part of such a warm & caring community." Lana  Martineau, Hilltribe Ontario Inc. said.

On average the Soup Kitchen serves 3,200 meals monthly. Since the pandemic, this number is growing.  People in our community are going hungry and a lot of them are children. This has an effect on their physical and mental health and on the fabric of our community. The Soup Kitchen Community Centre relies on donations and fundraising in order to provide services to our community. With your help the Soup  Kitchen Community Centre can continue to support those most at risk.

For this Giving Tuesday the Soup Kitchen hopes to raise $10,000 to help with the costs associated with  providing healthy meals and hygiene products and to assist with programming which includes two  after-school programs for 60 children and their families.

Hilltribe Ontario Inc. encourages other local businesses to consider supporting the Soup Kitchen this  Giving Tuesday. There are lots of ways that stores, retailers and restaurant owners can get involved. It is a  great opportunity to do more and engage employees, customers and your community.
