NEWS RELEASE
GROCER 4 GOOD
*******************************
Tuesday, November 29 is Giving Tuesday and we are asking our community to support our continued work at Grocer 4 Good Ability Development Program. To Donate online, please see this link.

We raised over $3,000 last year and want to exceed that goal. To help us, our friends at East Street Pizza on Wednesday, Nov. 30 will donate $2 from every large pizza to our cause! To order call 705-575-0707 or online.

What does your donation do?
    1.    Support paid employment opportunities for our staff, over 90 per cent identify as having a disability and for many working at G4G this has been their first paid job. (since our opening in 2020 we have employed over 15 unique individuals, and had over eight co-op placements both at secondary and post-secondary)
    2.    Maintain low mark-up on products (in some cases we sell at a loss, such as our 4 litre bags of milk) to assist our customers, approximately 75 per cent of our regular customers are seniors living alone on limited pensions.
    3.    Provide a sense of purpose and pride in having a rewarding opportunity – not just for work experience, but interpersonal development and life skills (we have seen this from staff learning to clean our staff washrooms – and using those skills at home and learning to look for past due dates on perishables)
    4.    Instil the values that we all have something to contribute to our community in a meaningful and rewarding way.

Some regularly asked questions:

Who can shop at G4G?
Everyone! We are a smaller grocery retailer and offer a variety of products at a low mark-up, and carry local specialty products such as Hogan’s Homestead maple products and Sweet Change chocolate!

Do you have discount days?
We have senior discounts on Thursdays and student discounts on Fridays (10 per cent off storewide)

What is a social enterprise?
We operate with the primary purpose of employing people facing various barriers to paid employment and skill building, while we supply essential goods and services at a low mark-up to service an area that has limited access to fresh produce everyday grocery needs.
