The F.H. Clergue French Immersion P.S. Natural Playground

A natural playground is an area that uses elements such as winding paths, sand, trees, hills, outdoor art, and music. Children can use their imaginations while simultaneously experiencing the smells, textures, and wonders of the natural world.

This is also a space where learning happens through play and presents opportunities for educators to bring their students outside for all types of lessons.

According to Dr. David Suzuki, “Natural playgrounds should be the standard for all our playgrounds. They truly connect children with nature and are a sort of classroom for the next generation of environmental stewards.”

Over the past five years, the school’s Playground Committee has been managing multiple fundraisers throughout the academic year and hosts the year-end Festival.

Funds raised from this year’s Festival will be used for the purchase and installation of play structures to be added for September 2016.

As we come to the close of our improvement plan, we would like to thank the tireless efforts of our Clergue families and the generosity of the community. See you at the Festival on June 4!
