Fall gardening brings with it a tulip that honours Canadian veterans

The team at New North Greenhouses is excited to offer locals the opportunity to enhance their garden throughout the fall season with the recent arrival of fall mums, ornamental cabbage and kale, as well as blooming Pansies and Violas.

A series of tulips including Disneyland Paris, Lilac Love, White Emperor, and Yellow Empress are due to arrive at the centre very shortly. A very special tulip known as the Canadian Liberator by Florissa will be available for purchase and is a symbol of European Liberation.

In 1945, Canadian forces played an integral part in the liberation of Europe at the end of World War II. Spring 2020 marks seventy-five years of European Liberation and this particular tulip is in honour of our Canadian veterans. The tulip’s name and purpose is to raise awareness and pay respect to the men and women who contributed towards lasting peace in Europe.

Garden enthusiasts and flower lovers are urged to visit New North Greenhouses the first weekend of September to stock up on fall foliage and flowers, including the Canadian Liberator.
