NEWS RELEASE

ST. VINCENT PLACE

*************************
St. Vincent Place has partnered up with No Frills at 519 Korah Road, from July 24 to July 30 to collect donations at the cash register.

We are asking for a donation of $1 or more, all money raised will go towards the purchasing of non-perishable food items for St. Vincent Place Food Bank.

During the months of April through September each year St. Vincent Place food donations become very limited and so we struggle to purchase staple food items to fulfill our 3 day emergency food parcels for our clients in need.

St. Vincent Place Food Bank and Soup Kitchen, in 2014 served 10,619 hot meals and provided non-perishable food items for 3,614 people, including 888 children.

In 2015, as of June 30, the St. Vincent Soup Kitchen has served 5,238 hot meals and the St. Vincent Food Bank has served 1,777 families: 1,999 people including 477 children.

We need the communities support and generosity to be able to continue to support our community.

St. Vincent Place is a creation of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for the community of Sault Ste. Marie in response to a call for an entity to provide shelter for men over 18 years of age.

St. Vincent Place is a non-profit organization, dedicated to assisting members of the community with basic needs and skill development.

Established in 2003, the four components of the St. Vincent Place services are the men’s shelter, food bank, soup kitchen and thrift store. The main building is located at 222 Albert Street East.
