NEWS RELEASE

CREDIT COUNSELLING SERVICE OF SAULT STE MARIE

*************************
Credit Education Week is a nation-wide event. It came about to provide people with opportunities to tap into the wealth of credit counselling resources that are available.

The goal is to empower individuals to be better able to navigate their personal finances; allowing them to make better decisions and achieve their personal goals.

In recognition of Credit Education Week, Credit Counselling Service of Sault Ste. Marie and District in cooperation with the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library will be hosting a lunch and learn session on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 in the Program Room at the Centennial (Main) Branch of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library.

The hour long session will run from 12 - 1 p.m. The theme for the talk will be 'managing your money without pinching your pennies' and touch on the following topics:

  • Budgets, the reasons people don’t and the solutions to those reasons
  • Goal setting and getting what you want without debt
  • Why people use credit and how to break the cycle
  • Dangers of credit reliance

This is a free event that includes a small lunch. Each participant will leave with information booklets to help them build a solid financial future.

Canadians report feeling more in debt than ever with almost half of Canadians saying they are living pay cheque to pay cheque and couldn’t weather a small dip in income. Another study shows Canadians are just $200 away from being completely overwhelmed by debt.

The 11th annual Credit Education Week aims to give you the tools to set financial goals and reach those goals. Please RSVP to (705) 254-1424, as space is limited. For more information on Credit Education Week, please visit www.creditcounsellingssm.ca
