Come golf for kids at Crimson Ridge

The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie will hold “A Day of Golf for THRIVE” on Thursday, Aug. 27 at Crimson Ridge. The event has been created around the new health guidelines, and will raise important funds for THRIVE Child Development Centre in lieu of their annual charity golf classic.

Tee times can be booked by groups of two and four through Rotary. The $75 player fee includes your round of golf, cart, a complimentary BBQ lunch, and a chance to win prizes. Registration can be complete online at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/115508010569.

“COVID-19 has changed life for everyone, and as a result we have had to make a change to the structure of our charity golf tournament,” explained Paul Kowalyk, Rotarian and Chair of the Rotary Golf Classic committee. “Our hope is that the people who have played in our event in the past will come out again and support our day of golf for THRIVE. This will not be a tournament, as we are trying to limit everyone’s exposure. This will be just a great day of golf with family and friends, with the knowledge that you have supported a great cause.”

THRIVE Child Development Centre helps local children and youth with diverse abilities to achieve their highest potential. THRIVE supports children and youth right here in Sault Ste. Marie who are impacted by differences in physical, perceptual, communication and developmental trajectories by building on their unique strengths, gifts and talents.

“Our daughter is eight years old, she was unexpectedly born with Dystonic Cerebral Palsy, and has been a client of THRIVE since she was two months old,” shared local THRIVE mom, Sherry.

“Our daughter is and has been involved with the Feeding Clinic, Augmentative Clinic (speech device and programming), Seating Clinic, Orthodics Clinic, and soon will take part in the Orthopedic Clinic. Because of THRIVE and all of the expertise provided we are able to access various Clinics without having the extra stressors of travelling and coordinating various clinics to meet the needs of our daughter. We already travel to London for other various appointments yearly so it's nice to have the access we do through THRIVE for all of our daughter’s other needs!”

THRIVE Child Development Centre opened its doors in 1952, as a project of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie, the Sault Ste. Marie Public Board of Education and a local group of physicians.
