Algoma District student wins $1,500 scholarship

As part of this year’s Credit Education Week Canada (CEWC), a national essay contest was held for Grade 12, graduating students. The Algoma District had a winner! Tamara Behnke, a student at École Secondaire Catholique Jeunesse-Nord wrote about her worst money mistake, and what she learned from it. Tamara’s essay secured her a $1,500 scholarship.

Credit Counselling Sault Ste. Marie and District would like to congratulate Tamara on her well written essay. Tamara will be presented with an award and read her winning essay at this year’s Credit Education Week event, Monday, Nov. 6 at 12 p.m. This year’s event is in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Library and will be held at the Centennial Branch (Main branch).

We encourage everyone to attend our free event! A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. Come and hear an informative discussion by Matthew Keenan, Credit and Education Counsellor with Credit Counselling Service of Sault Ste. Marie and District and Tamara read her essay.

Credit Canada’s Credit Education Week is an annual event designed to promote financial literacy across the country.
