STRIVE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS GROUP

The week of May 14-20 has been officially recognized as Young Professionals week in Sault Ste. Marie, and Strive Young Professionals Group is celebrating for the second year.

The Young Professionals Network of Ontario (YPNO) describes the week as a unique platform to engage under 40s in meaningful conversation and action surrounding the economic, social, and cultural wellbeing of our communities! This is the first year that Young Professionals Week is being celebrated nationally.   

Young Professionals Week encourages local young professionals to create and identify opportunity for professional and community development. It also educates employers on the importance of retaining young professionals and the crucial role they play in the province's workforce.

Strive kicked off the week this year by hosting a Strive @ Five Networking event, at HD Sports Grill, where they were joined by over 25 local young professionals.
Erika Provenzano, Strive's Advocacy officer says that building relationships and celebrating young professionals is more important than ever now.
 
"Our goal is to provide a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere for young professionals to come out and meet new people in Sault Ste. Marie once a month. Building relationships in the community is so important. For Young Professionals Week this year, we really want to focus on highlighting the vast range of young professionals in the Sault, from entrepreneurs to tradespeople and everyone in between. Strive is so proud to represent young professionals from all career paths."

Strive will be celebrating all week, hosting a private lunch and learn session at OLG, and celebrating local young professionals through their website and social media channels.

About Strive Young Professionals Group

Strive was developed in 2012 by the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce to fill a representation gap for individuals between the age of 19 to 40. This subcommittee of the Sault’s Chamber of Commerce has an elected executive which is rotated annually based on its active membership’s votes.

The elected executive of Strive works with other groups, individuals, and businesses inside of the community to provide networking events, learning development opportunities, and community involvement initiatives.
