ALGOMA DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

Eight high school students from the Algoma District School Board’s Manufacturing and Welding Classes are competing on Wednesday, March 20 for the opportunity to represent the Algoma region at the Skills Ontario Provincial Welding Competition in North Bay.

This hands-on competition will be held at the United Association of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 800 Union Hall, located at will demonstrate their skills by performing multi-process welding on pipe and plate which will be evaluated by 165 Northern Avenue East.

Students will demonstrate their skills by performing multi-process welding on pipe and plate which will be evaluated by Local 800’s professional welders. During the afternoon, the students will be mentored by the professionals and learn about advanced welding techniques and processes.

The Algoma District School Board wishes to thank Local 800 for the support and the Traders Steel Warehouse for donations to this week’s competition.
