On Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, Elwood Powley of Sault Ste. Marie received the call that he won $40,618 with ticket #F-1240411!

Elwood celebrated his 75th birthday this past January! “What a wonderful birthday present and a great way to start the New Year!” shared Elwood.

Elwood was shocked to find out that he had won the ARCH 50/50 Draw after finishing a night shift at the Steel Plant. Elwood shared with us that he is extremely grateful for the opportunity to celebrate his 55 years at Algoma Steel and 75 years of life!

“I buy tickets every month for local charities to support local causes; I already bought my February tickets for the ARCH 50/50 Draw!” Elwood shared that he plans to pay off some debt, complete needed work on his house and cut back on the overtime hours.

Elwood also shared that he’s hopeful to visit his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Since they recently relocated to White Rock, B.C., after living overseas, once travel opens up, as he hasn’t seen them in over 12 years!

Congratulations Elwood, we are so very happy for you!

“We are so grateful for the support of our 50/50 draw; it helps with our many unfunded direct care needs, of which we are required to raise more than $850,000 annually to cover costs," shared Christianne Monico, ARCH Hospice executive director.

Supporting Hospice is easy as the February ARCH 50/50 tickets are already on sale online! The winner’s jackpot has a guaranteed minimum of $9,999. This past year, winners have taken home over $283,000 combined!

All proceeds raised from the 50/50 go directly towards the care and support of the nearly 200 residents and their families that ARCH serves each year.

The deadline to purchase tickets is Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. – you never know, this month’s winner could be you! Don’t miss out – Purchase your tickets today!
