Making a mural: The meaning behind the art

Woodland style artist Lucia Laford talks about how she incorporated one of her father's signature designs into her latest mural, and also breaks down the individual elements that make up the whole of her latest work

In this interview Lucia Laford breaks down the individual elements that make up the whole of her newest mural, Fish Lodge.

Woodland art is a spiritual style of art with a deep connection to the land and the history and teachings of its people.

Largely inspired by her father, the late John Laford, and his work, Lucia continues to spread his ideology.

In her own words:

"Everybody has a right to know this form of art, because it's based from this land. Settlers live here too and they should be educated. I don't want to be divisionary, I don't want to be a gatekeeper, I want people to come together."
