Sault native Chris Thorburn is off to Plymouth, having been dealt by the Saginaw Spirit to the Whalers in an Ontario Hockey League trade finalized Monday afternoon.

NORTH STARS FINISH 2-2 AT STEEL CITY

The Soo North Stars finished with a 2-2 record at the Steel City International Hockey Tournament following a 4-1 Saturday night loss to St. Mary's Shattuck at the John Rhodes Community Centre. Nick Tombari scored the only goal for the North Stars.

REID LEADS COCOMO'S TO HOOPS WIN

Roberta Reid hit for 22 points as Cocomo's topped Sault College 63-58 in City Women's Basketball League play Friday night. Heidi Jaaskelainen added 21 points and Katie Healey chipped in with 16 points for Cocomo's.

Cory Sewell triggered two goals as the Soo North Stars opened the Steel City International Hockey Tournament with a 4-1 AAA midget division win over the Colorado Arapahoe Ice Warriors.

STEEL CITY TOURNAMENT STARTS THURSDAY

Every arena in Sault Ste. Marie will be busy from Thursday through Sunday of this week, as the annual Steel City International Hockey Tournament will take place. Featured divisions are AAA midget and AAA bantam, AA midget and AA bantam.

WEEKEND WINS FOR NORTH STARS

Soo North Stars returned home Sunday with a pair of weekend road wins in the Great North Midget Hockey League. Saturday in Kirkland Lake, the Soo got goals from David Turco, Adam Combs and Michael D'Agostini en route to a 3-1 win over the 87s.
