The Mayor's Cup hockey tournament is nearing completion with just one more evening of games to take place before the semi-finals begin on Thursday night.

Tuesday night saw two games on the slate as Tulloch Engineering took on Blueliners in the early game and McDougall Fuels took on Soo Sports Excellence in the night cap.

The Over-33 Division game between Tulloch and Blueliners saw Tulloch jump out to a 5-0 first period lead and never look back as they skated to a 10-4 win over Stitch King. The win was the fourth straight for Tulloch.

Tulloch picked up two first period goals from Darren Evans along with singles from Scott Sloss, Ivan Khull, and Brad Webkamigad to open up the lead. Evans picked up another goal late in the third period to complete the hat trick while Jim Junor, Frank Giaccone, Terry Seabrook and Mark Pavoni capped off the Tulloch scoring.

Seabrook added two assists in the win as did Webkamigad in addition to their goals. Evans also chipped in with two helpers. Nelson Duschene, Pavoni and Sloss also had two assists for Tulloch.

Rob Dimicoli, who also had an assist, along with Kevin Auger, John Nardo and Dave Eddy scored for Blueliners.

In the Open Division game, McDougall Fuels used the same strategy and opened up a 3-0 first period lead en route to a 10-2 win over Soo Sports Excellence in a game that featured tempers that led to a number of scrums throughout the game. The win for McDougall was the first of the tournament for them.

In the opening period, McDougall Fuels picked up goals from Joe Micolo, Randy Barry and Jim Pulente to open up the lead and they never looked back. Micolo also picked up two assists in the win while Pulente added another goal along with an assist for a three point night.

Action in the Mayor's Cup will continue on Wednesday night as the round robin portion of the tournament ends with Mr. Transmission taking on Stitch King/Weedman in the Over-33 Division at 7 p.m.

Open Division action will see the Blueliners Bulls take on the Soo Kings at 8:30 p.m. Both games are scheduled for the Soo Pee Wee Arena.
