U14 Civics return from Minnesota with silver

The local tournament entry competed in an event that included teams from 19 countries

The Sault Civics U14 boys soccer team was in Blaine, MN over the weekend for the Schwan’s USA Cup and return to Sault Ste. Marie after a strong showing.

The team won silver while competing in the U14 Boys Silver Division at the five-day event.

The team advanced to the final before dropping a 4-2 decision to Chivas Houston in the championship game.

The game was the Civics lone loss of the event.

The Civics advanced to the final after a 2-1 semifinal victory over Colegio Menor of San Francisco.

The Civics advanced out of the round robin with a 3-0 record thanks to win over three Minnesota-based teams, beating the NSSA Blue Devils (7-0), MTA (6-0) and Fusion SC Sinelnikov (3-1).

In the quarter-final, the Civics beat Kansas-based LASC Alliance 2-1.
