Just 24 hours after a disappointing loss on home ice, the Soo Thunderbirds rebounded with an important win on Saturday night.

Thanks to a four-goal second period, one that included a natural hattrick by Lucas Theriault, the Thunderbirds beat the Soo (Mich.) Eagles 4-2 Saturday night in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Pullar Stadium in Sault, Mich.

The game gave the Thunderbirds a split of the home-and-home series between the two clubs that began with the Eagles beating the Thunderbirds 4-3 Friday night at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

In addition to the big day by Theriault, Noah Boman set up three goals for the Thunderbirds while Tristan Cicchello added a pair of assists.

Nick Smith had the other goal for the Thunderbirds.

Goaltender William Anderson made 34 saves for the Thunderbirds, including 16 in the final period.

Dominic Skrelja and Raf Praysner scored for the Eagles.

Eagles netminder Shane Brancato made 29 saves.

Winners of nine of their last 10 games, the Thunderbirds improve to 35-10-0-1 while the Eagles fall to 23-21-2-1.

Next action for the Thunderbirds is on Monday night when the team travels to Blind River to take on the Beavers.
