It’s been a busy start to the week for the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Soo Thunderbirds.
The Thunderbirds picked up a 5-3 win over the Espanola Express on Wednesday night, just 24 hours after a 2-1 win over the Blind River Beavers.
On Wednesday night, Camden Findlay assisted on three goals while Brock Santa Maria had a goal and an assist for the Thunderbirds.
Kurtis Rogers, Spencer Van Tiem, Noah Boman, and Nolan Ford also scored for the Thunderbirds in Wednesday’s win.
Goaltender William Anderson stopped 26 shots for the Thunderbirds.
Chase Lammi had a goal and an assist for Espanola.
Lukas Lyszyk and Connor Tessier also scored for the Express.
Espanola goaltender Joel Rainville stopped 35 shots.
On Tuesday night, a power play goal by Tristan Cicchello at 14:07 of the second period was the game-winner for the Thunderbirds against Blind River.
Boman had the other Thunderbirds goal. Cicchello had a goal and an assist.
Thunderbirds goaltender Colin Ahern made 36 saves.
Nash Hatcher had the lone goal for Blind River.
Beavers goaltender Garret Boyonoski stopped 26 shots.
The Thunderbirds return to action on Friday night on the road against the Soo (Mich.) Eagles.
