Thunderbirds in tough against Eagles

The Soo Thundebirds trail the Soo Eagles 3-1 in their Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League playoff series heading into action on Saturday

The Soo Thunderbirds will be facing elimination when the team returns home to face the Soo (Mich.) Eagles on Saturday night.

The Thunderbirds dropped a 3-0 decision to the Eagles Friday night at Pullar Stadium in Sault, Mich. to fall behind 3-1 in their Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League playoff series.

Carter McPhail stopped 27 shots for his second consecutive shutout for the Eagles.

Austin Rowe had a goal and an assist for the Eagles. Kyle Quinn and Hayden Clark also scored.

Thunderbirds goaltender Eric Schuch stopped 23 shots.

Puck drop for game five of the series on Saturday at the John Rhodes Community Centre is set for 7:30 p.m.
