The Soo Thunderbirds dealt defenceman Cameron Dutkiewicz.

The 19-year-old blueliner has been traded to the Timmins Rock in exchange for a player development fee.

Dutkiewicz, who played in his first season with the Thunderbirds in 2020-21, led all Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League defencemen in points with 18 and goals with nine in 21 games.

His six power play goals were also a league-high for defencemen.

The trade is a return home for the Timmins native and something the defenceman was looking for.

“Cameron requested a move to play his final season back home in Timmins,” Thunderbirds general manager Jamie Henderson said in a prepared statement.
