Garden River’s Jordan Nolan is set to join a new team.

The veteran NHL forward was claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday after appearing in nearly 300 games as a member of the Los Angeles Kings.

The 6-foot-3, 219-pound forward won a pair of Stanley Cups with the Kings as a member of its championship teams in 2012 and 2014.

“We’re happy to bring Jordan into the mix,” Buffalo General Manager Jason Botterill said in a prepared statement. “His size and speed, along with his experience with such a successful organization like the Kings, make him an asset to the organization.”

In 46 games last season with the Kings, Nolan scored four goals and eight points.

Meanwhile, Sault product Colin Miller remains in the mix with the NHL’s newest entry, the Vegas Golden Knights.

Miller, who previously suited up with the Boston Bruins, was selected by the Golden Knights in the NHL expansion draft over the summer.

In 61 games last season with the Bruins, Miller scored six goals and 13 points for the Bruins.

Another Sault Ste. Marie product changed teams over the summer as Chris Thorburn signed a contract with the St. Louis Blues.

The 34-year-old Thorburn was selected by the Golden Knights in the NHL expansion draft before signing as a free agent with the Blues.

Last season with the Winnipeg Jets, Thorburn scored three goals and an assist as had 95 penalty minutes in 64 games.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound winger has played in 750 career games.
