The Soo Greyhounds seven game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Toronto St. Michael's Majors.

The Majors used three third period goals to beat the Greyhounds 4-2 in Toronto on Saturday afternoon.

The loss was the first for the Greyhounds since a 4-2 defeat to Kitchener on October 5. The Greyhounds record falls to 8-5-1 but the team remains in first place in the Ontario Hockey League's west division, one point ahead of Plymouth, which play on Saturday night, and two ahead of Sarnia.

Jeff Carter opened the scoring just 45 seconds into the game with his sixth goal of the year to put the Hounds ahead 1-0.

Three minutes later, Sal Peralta and Tim Brent scored less than a minute apart to get the Majors rolling. Ryan Rorabeck added a power play goal late in the period to put Toronto ahead 3-1 after one period.

After a scoreless second period, Carter scored his second goal of the game to pull the Hounds to within one at 3-2 early in the third period.

With under five minutes remaining, Tyler Haskins scored the power play to seal the win for the Majors.

The Greyhounds mustered 34 shots on goal while Hounds goaltender Kevin Druce was solid stopping 39 of the 42 shots he faced from the Majors.

The Greyhounds complete their three game road trip on Sunday in Guelph against the Storm at 2 p.m.

Next home action for the Greyhounds is on Wednesday against the Sarnia Sting at 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.
