Team Jacobs has opened the 2021-22 curling season with a tournament win.

Brad Jacobs and his team from the Community First Curling Centre, which includes third Marc Kennedy, second E.J. Harnden, and lead Ryan Harnden, beat Kingston, Ont.’s Team John Beuk 8-2 in four ends to win the tournament title.

After blanking the opening end, Jacobs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second end.

With Jacobs sitting six, Horgan’s final shot of the end came to a rest as third shot and Jacobs proceeded to remove the stone and leave five of his own for the early lead.

After Horgan scored a pair in the third end, Jacobs proceeded to seal the win with three more in the fourth end.

The Beuk rink was skipped at the event by Tanner Horgan as the Beuk family recently celebrated the birth of a child.

Jacobs advanced to the final thanks to a 6-3 semifinal win on Monday morning over Tyler Tardi of Surrey, BC.

Trailing 1-0 through three ends, Jacobs scored a pair in the fourth end before stealing two more in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.

Jacobs sealed the win with a pair in the seventh end before running Tardi out of rocks in the eighth end.
