SWEET REVENGE AT LAIRD

Terry McClelland made his return with a vengeance just when it seemed as though he hadn't really left.

Terry McClelland made his return with a vengeance just when it seemed as though he hadn't really left.

After publicly stating that he wouldn't return to Laird International Raceway after his run-in with Rob Hiiemaa last week, McClelland returned to the track and dominated the late-model division at on Thursday night.

Due to his suspension last week, McClelland didn't receive any points in the standings. But this week, McClelland captured both heat races and the feature to move up the standings. Heading into this week's action, Rick Leonard held the points lead with 209 with McClelland sitting with 177 in third spot.

George Wilson made his bid to move into first place in the factory stock class by winning the opening heat and the feature race. Todd Jackson won the second heat. Wilson is in a feverish battle for the division points lead with Rob Sartini, who entered the week in first spot with 214 points followed by Wilson with 205.

The factory stock division had a wide open night as four drivers captured victories.

Rick Mariotti won the first and third heats, division leader Parker Brockelbank won the second heat and David Slingsby won the fourth and final heat. Jason Praysner, who is nipping at Brockelbank's heals in the standings, gained some valuable points by winning the feature.

Josh Ware continued his fine season by winning the feature in the pure stock division. Barry Glenn won both heat races.

In the stock four-cylinder division, American Steve Bumstead won both the heat race and the feature.

Action continues next Thursday night at Laird beginning at 7 p.m.
