A second-quarter touchdown was the difference for Superior Heights in senior high school football action on Thursday night.

In what was a low-scoring game, a touchdown run by Cooper Lafromboise and a two-point convert by Robert Wright in the second quarter lifted the Steelhawks to a 14-7 win over St. Mary’s in senior action at Superior Heights.

The touchdown came just minutes after the Knights had taken a 7-6 lead on a touchdown run by Nick Fowler early in the quarter.

Wright gave the Steelhawks the lead in the opening quarter on a touchdown pass from Ethan Johnson.

The win gives the Steelhawks a 3-1 record and was a rebound win for a team that dropped a 19-9 decision to Korah last Friday night.

The Knights, coming off a week three win over White Pines, drops to 1-3.

In Thursday’s junior game, St. Mary’s picked up a 48-21 victory over Superior Heights to improve to 3-1. The Steelhawks drop to 1-3.

The high school football schedule continues on Friday night as Korah faces White Pines in both junior and senior action. The Colts will carry a perfect 3-0 record into Friday’s senior game, set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the junior game will kick off at 4:45 p.m. The Colts junior team also carries a perfect 3-0 record.
