Steel City MMA competitors bring home gold, silver medals

Steel City MMA competitors returned from the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) Chicago championships with both gold and silver medals. 

NAGA was the first tournament that Steel City MMA competitors have attended, since the outbreak of COVID in 2020. The SCMMA team will be looking at an active summer with athletes competing in MMA and Jiu Jitsu in Michigan, Wisconsin and Ontario in the coming months.

Steel City MMA competitors returned from Chicago, Ill. loaded with hardware after their performance at the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) Chicago Championships.

Steel City was led by gold medalists Hannah Horner and Brock Pinder. 

Pinder claimed gold after going 3-0 in the 165 lb no gi division. gold

Horner claimed gold in the women's 149lb gi division. After claiming silver in the no gi division earlier in the day, Horner was able to avenge her loss and defeat the opponent who beat her earlier in the tournament to claim gold.

The father and son team of Noah and Jesse Jansen also performed well, both returning with silver medals. Noah claimed silver in the youth 110 lb no gi division, while Jesse claimed silver in the men's 220lb no gi division.

The NAGA Chicago championships represents the first tournament that Steel City MMA competitors have attended, since the outbreak of the Coronovarius in 2020. The SCMMA team will be looking at an active summer with athletes competing in MMA and Jiu Jitsu in Michigan, Wisconsin and Ontario in the coming months.
