KINROSS, MI - The fourth consecutive season under the guidance of Fox Boyz Racing and their volunteers is on pace to kick off the 2017 stock car racing season at the Kinross Speedpark in just over one months time.

Competitors from both sides of the St. Mary’s River and across the State of Michigan will converge on the 1/4 mile asphalt oval for an eight week regular season plus year-end invitational, totalling nine nights of exciting racing competition this coming summer.

Opening Night is set for Sunday, Jun. 4 with time trials at 1:30 p.m. and racing to follow at 3 p.m.

Main grandstand admission pricing remains unchanged at $11 for adults and $7 for seniors/students, while kids 11 and under are FREE.

The season schedule will include three events in June, two in July, two in August and two in the month of September.

Seven events will be held on the track's traditional Sunday afternoon, while the Season Championshp during the Chippewa County Fair will be a Friday Night, and the year-end invitational will go on Saturday afternoon.

One season ago 93 competitors from across Michigan and Ontario made the trek to Kinross before a record 112 competitors competed in the year-end show.
This year track officials are expecting a deeper field as many new faces have reached out to the facility showing their intentions in competing in the points battles.

Heading into this summer Tim Aho (#27, Sault Ste. Marie MI) will be returning as the two-time defending Modified division champion.

The local veteran has been successful in a torrid battle with Petoskey, MI second generation driver Buddy Gray IV (#24JR, Petoskey MI) back-to-back years for the track championship.

Aho completed 2017 with a 5 point advantage following a slim 2-point victory one year prior.

Is a three-peat in the cards?  Or will the Speedpark see it’s 10th different champion in 15 years?

Speaking of three-peats, the run by Larry Young Jr. (#25, Sault Ste. Marie MI) as champion (2011, 2014, 2015) in the ABC Stock Cars A-Division came to a close as the Sault Ste. Marie, MI ran a limited schedule one summer ago.

Sault Ste. Marie, ON native Keenan Spurway (#0) powered his machine to his first championship at Kinross and will be returning again this coming summer to defend his title in the talented field.

Cedarville, Michigan’s Tony Rankin (#68) was the division’s runner-up.

In the ABC Stock Cars B-Division Larry Young Sr. (#25 Sault Ste. Marie MI) ran nose-to-tail and side-by-side with rookie competitor Buddy Palahnuk (#26, Goualis River ON) one summer ago before bettering his protege by 10 points in the standings for his second straight championship.

Jonn Diodati (#52) is the defending track champion in the Four Cylinder Division.

The Canadian Sault competitor was Mr. Consistent all summer long in 2016 finishing ahead of the brother-sister duo of Brent Fewchuk (#3) and Rebecca Fewchuk (#99) who rounded out the top three positions.

Kinross Speedpark is the Twin Sault’s ONLY asphalt racing facility and home of the Contingency Connection’s $100,000 Racer Rewards Program.

Take exit 378 off the I-75 and follow the signs to the Chippewa County Fairgrounds.
