ECHO BAY -- After an unexpected week off due to stormy weather, the Women's Hockey League resumed action here Monday night.

Teams continued to jockey for positions in the league standings, with the exception of Source for Sports, which remains in first place at the halfway point of the schedule.

Crawford's Canines moved into second place with a 2-1 victory over Investors Group. Lisa Venier and Donna Smith scored for the Canines and Carolyn Tomchak played solid in net.

Scoring for Investors Group was Ellen MacDougall.

Source for Sports defeated Play It Again 3-1. It was their fourth win in five games. Jenny Sayers, Karen Bell and Natalie King scored for the winners. For the second game in a row, Source for Sports goaltender, Catherine Schryer, had her shutout bid denied in the dying minutes of the game as Gayle Trivers played the spoiler with an unassisted goal.

Lafarge leap-frogged from the basement into fourth place with a hard-earned 2-0 win over Algoma Insurance. Elaine Angelic was a force for Lafarge, assisting on the first goal and scoring the second. Trish Evans also scored and Nancy Dewling recorded her league-leading second shutout.
