RUDYARD, MICH – The Soo Night Hawks baseball team travelled to Rudyard Michigan to compete in the Rudyard Varsity High School Tournament.  The Soo Night Hawks were joined by host Rudyard and Pellston.

The Night Hawks suffered their first two losses of the season in the tournament, dropping a 7 - 4 decision to host Rudyard in the opener and then suffering a 4 - 3 set back against Pellston. The two losses drop the Night Hawks season record to 6 and 2.

In the Opener against host Rudyard the Night Hawks got off to a promising start opening the scoring with a 4 run third inning, unfortunately that would be all of the scoring that the Night Hawks could muster, as Rudyard chipped away with one in the third, another in the fourth, and then a sloppy 5th inning by the Night Hawks led to the eventual 7 to 4 defeat.

Braedon Whalen was the hard luck loser pitching the complete game while allowing only 3 hits and striking out 10, but with the defence committing 5 errors behind him, the solid outing went for naught.

Offensively the Night Hawks bats were silent with only Brennan Mitchell and Brandon Boyer picking up hits.  Boyer led the way with a 2 for 2 outing driving in 3 runs with a booming double.

In game two again the Night Hawks would open the scoring with two runs in the second, but they would surrender 2 in the 4th and 2 more in the 5th to fall behind 4 to 2; the Night Hawks would scratch out a run in the 5th to eventually fall 4 to 3.

Offensively for the Night Hawks again the bats were silent as the hits were picked up by Tyler Sayers, Brandon Boyer, Braedon Whalen, and Noah Thomson.
