Hundreds of Canada’s best snowmobile and snow bike racers roll into Sault Ste Marie, Ont. on Jan. 12 to 13 to compete at the Rockstar Energy Can/Am International Snowcross races.

The Extreme Sports event will feature over 500 racer entries from Canada and the USA.

Snowcross racing is very similar to motorcycle motocross.

Racers will compete on a challenging 1 km race course consisting of huge jumps and moguls. Pro racers will often jump their sleds and motorcycles 100-120' feet through the air as they challenge other competitors for the lead position.

Snowcross racing is a family sport, there are 22 racing classes of competition starting with a kids division for four- to six-year-old children racing on miniature snowmobiles, classes for novice kids, juniors boys and girls, trail sport classes for first time racers, sport and pro classes.

Spectators will have opportunity to meet the pro racers for autographs Saturday and Sunday.

There will also be spectator prizes and free racing stickers for the kids. Vendors will be on site with new snowmobiles, ATVs and trucks.

Pro snowmobile and snow bike racing will take place both days. The Main Events Pro-Lite and Pro races will take place Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.

Spectator admission tickets will be sold at the race site gates on race days.

Spectator gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
