SEARCHMONT -- The stage is set for the annual Wolfman Martin Classic beginning Thursday at Searchmont Ski Resort.

Northern Ontario Division skiers will converge on the alpine tourist attraction for the annual competition that features Super Giant Slalom and Giant Slalom races.

The event is the first for the division this season and with new fallen snow conditions promise to be excellent.

Searchmont Ski Runners competitors will face their counterparts from Sudbury, North Bay and Timmins. Thursday will see training for Friday's two Super G races. Skiers will start from the very top of Searchmont and traverse a challenging course to the finish.

Saturday and Sunday the focus shifts to Giant Slalom where the combined times of morning and afternoon runs will determine the winners.

This is the first race test for the Searchmont Ski Runners Kinder Team. All of the team members are eager to be racing after honing their skills for over a month and participating in a gruelling 13-day Christmas Camp.

Racing is set to begin each day at 9:30 in the morning. Spectators are welcome to come and see Northeastern Ontario up-and-coming corps of downhillers.
