SEARCHMONT -- The host Searchmont Ski Runners collected seventeen medals on the opening day of the Wolfman Martin Classic Apline event here Friday.

SEARCHMONT -- The host Searchmont Ski Runners collected seventeen medals on the opening day of the Wolfman Martin Classic Apline event here Friday.

Two Super Giant Slalom races were held under ideal conditions at Searchmont Resort with 39 competitors taking part.

In the Kinder-1 group, for ages 11 and 12, the host team swept the medals in the boy's race with Josh Dugas collecting a pair of victories. Second to Dugas in the first race was Graeme Hutchison. George Payne finished third.

Payne took the silver behind Dugas in the second race and Matthew Horbatuk completed the SSR sweep by claiming the bronze.

In the. K-1 girls SSR's Meghan DiAngelo won both races, while Heidi Poldmaa of Goulais River claimed both bronze medals.

In the K-2 Division (ages 13 and 14) SSR's Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick won both races ahead of teammate Kylie Rains. Jennifer Payne had a third place finish

On the boy's side, SSR's David Dutkiewicz took bronze in the first Super G and silver in the second.

In the Nancy Greene Division, Searchmont's Iain Hutchison won the first race and came third in the second Super G.

Competition continues here Saturday and Sunday with Giant Slalom events.
