Sault College playoff bound in OCAA curling

Semifinal action begins at 9 a.m. with the finals set for noon

Both Sault College entries at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) curling championship are playoff bound.

With semifinal action set for 9 a.m. Sunday morning, the Sault College men’s team and mixed team will both be in action.

The men’s team wrapped up round robin play on Saturday with a 6-2 record, good for second behind Humber, who finished 7-1. Also advancing to the semifinals were Fanshawe, who also finished 6-2, and Mohawk, who finished 4-4.

The Sault College mixed team moved on to the semifinals after finishing in a first-place tie with Humber. Both teams finished with 4-1 record while Humber held the tie-breaker, having beaten Sault College 9-3 in the round robin. Fleming, 3-2, and Fanshawe, 2-3, also advanced to playoff action.

The playoff teams in the women’s division were Fleming, Niagara, Humber and Fanshawe. Fleming finished the round robin with a 5-1 record while Niagara, Humber and Fanshawe each finished 4-2.

Championship games in all three divisions are set for noon at the Community First Curling Centre.
