The varsity Sault Sabercats will head on the road for round two of the Ontario Football Conference playoffs next week.

After the Vaughan Rebels forfeited their first round playoff game against the Sabercats, scheduled for Saturday night in Sault Ste. Marie, the locals will face the Huronia Stallions next weekend.

The Sabercats and Stallions met once in the OFC regular season with the Stallions picking up a 23-15 victory at Superior Heights, which dropped the Sabercats to 0-2 at the time.

The team would then reel off four consecutive victories to end the regular season and finish third in the OFC’s North Division.

Huronia finished second in the division with a 5-1 record with its lone loss coming on the road in Peterborough against the Wolverines on June 17. Peterborough finished the regular season unbeaten at 6-0.

Meanwhile, the junior varsity Sabercats will be at home next weekend. At the time of writing, the JV Sabercats opponent had not been officially determined.

With a 4-2 record, the JV team finished second in the OFC North Division.

Saturday’s junior varsity playoff games were to see the Huronia Stallions (4-2) take on the winless Vaughan Rebels (0-5-1) and the Sudbury Gladiators (2-4) take on the Toronto Jr. Argos (1-4-1).
