Randy Russon's unemployment as a basketball coach lasted less than two weeks as the former Sault College women's coach has landed at Bawating.

Russon will take the reigns of the junior girls basketball team from Bawating girls athletic director Mary Hart.

Citing his preference for the high school game, Russon resigned from his position at Sault College and was replaced by former Sault College men's coach Don Muto.

Russon returns to the high school circuit after a one-year absence. Russon piloted the White Pines senior girls team in 2001 and 2002 after coaching the junior girls at Mount St. Joseph College in 1997 and 1998.

"I've known Mary (Hart) a long time and we share a similar philosophy. And I'm really looking forward to being at the same school with Jim Nevin, who I've coached against in both junior and senior ball," said Russon, who feels Nevin is the most underrated coach in the city.

Joining Russon at Bawating is Shawna Wooton, who served the same role under Hart.
