Local fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs have reason to celebrate after Ron Francis was dealt by the Carolina Hurricanes to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday afternoon.

Francis, a Sault native, had earlier reported that he would exercise his no trade clause and remain with the Hurricanes for family stability reasons.

The opportunity to move to the Maple Leafs saw Francis change his mind and waive the clause in order for the two teams to work out a deal. The Leafs parted with only a fourth round pick for Francis' services.
