Sault Ste. Marie native Rico Fata Jr. has been dealt by the New York Rangers to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a seven-player National Hockey League trade completed on Monday. High-scoring forward Alexei Kovalev was the principal player in the trade, going from Pittsburgh to the Rangers. The 22-year old Fata -- a former first-round pick of the Calgary Flames -- had two goals and four assists in 36 games with the Rangers this season. Interestingly, Fata's younger brother Drew, a 19-year old defenceman, was drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round of the 2001 NHL lottery. Drew was also part of a trade this season, moving from the Toronto St. Michael's Majors to the Kingston Frontenacs in an Ontario Hockey League transaction.
