Run the Great Lakes takes place June 11 starting at downtown Delta Hotel

ARCH Hospice and Sault Area Hospital Foundation have announced the return of the 24th annual Run the Great Lakes.

This year’s run will take place on Sunday, June 11, at the Delta Hotel on the downtown Sault Ste. Marie waterfront.

Join hundreds of others in our community’s biggest annual running event.

If you’re new to the running scene, an elite runner, or looking for something fun to do with your family or coworkers, Run the Great Lakes presented by Cintas is the event for you this spring, organizers say.

You don’t have to be fast - you can jog or even walk your way to the finish line while supporting both local health charities.

The cost to register is $40, which includes your numbered bib and qualifies you for division race prizes. If you register by May 31 you’ll also receive a 2023 run t-shirt. To register now, click here

Choose your distance: the Great Lakes Honda 5K, or the Canadian Tire 10K if you’re feeling like a challenge.

Kids of all ages are invited to participate in the Northern Credit Union Kids Run. Register your child for a 1K or 2K distance for only $20, which includes a 2023 run t-shirt! Enjoy family-friendly activities as well, including water sprinklers, bean-bag toss, sidewalk chalk, a “tattoo” table and lots of food, prizes, and giveaways. “As a group, we are really excited to offer up this year’s Run the Great Lakes," said Doug Richardson, run committee chair and owner of The Shoe Fits.

"We have raised over $150,000 for great causes over a couple of decades and had fun doing it. This is just getting bigger and better. We now also offer a super kids event and welcome all to join us. You can race the clock, jog with friends, or just walk and still know you’re helping yourself and two valuable charities for our city.”

Run the Great Lakes is made possible thanks to the support of presenting sponsor Cintas, as well as platinum sponsors Tenaris, The Shoe Fits, Northern Credit Union, Great Lakes Honda, Canadian Tire, Delta Hotels by Marriott Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront, and SooToday.com.

You can find the event on Facebook here or peruse the website for more information, pictures, and standings from previous years.

Organizers hope to see everyone out on Sunday, June 11, all laced up, and ready to put the fun into run.
