The race season will come to a close this weekend at Laird Raceway.

On Saturday, the track will hold the Northern Stars Invitational, which will also include the season championship.

The event was scheduled to kick off today and run as a two-day event, but the threat of rain forced track officials to make the decision to hold the entire event on Saturday.

A pair of divisions will come down to the wire for points titles.

In the Factory Four division, Jason Kern enters the weekend with 181 points, 17 ahead of Kayla Kyrnell. The division will also see a battle for third as nine points separates Jack Lannigan in third and Caleb Foster in fourth.

In the Modified Division, Mark Laakso, with 218 points, has a 12-point lead over Roddy Bolduc entering action on Saturday. Michael Carbone is third and sits five points ahead of Dustin Jackson.

In the Factory Stock Division, Jerry Ross heads into the event with 253 points, 45 ahead of Jamie Fox.

The Super Late Model Division points leader heading into the season championship is Rob Hiiemaa with 250 points. Jackson sits second with 219 and Jake Irwin is third with 191.

Action on Saturday is set to begin with qualifying at 4 p.m. and racing set to begin at 5:15 p.m. Among the features is a two-part 73-lap Late Model race.
